Veterinarians

  • From a young age horses & rodeo were a big part of Dr. Smith’s life, something that stayed at the forefront of his mind as he progressed through schooling.

    Upon graduating from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 he returned home to Carthage, MO and opened the doors to Smith Equine & Veterinary Services. While his love for horses has never wavered, he enjoys the challenges of mixed animal practice & is happy to serve livestock, equine and small animal clients.

    He is a proud husband and the ultimate girl-dad to two beautiful daughters. In his spare time you can find him team roping, active in the community, and spending time with his family.

  • A graduate of Carthage High School, Dr. Grundy attended and Graduated from Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She has spent her entire career serving pets and their people in Southwest Missouri. Married to Eddie Grundy, they have one daughter Hannah, two dogs (Lucy & Daisy), a parakeet named Groot and a cat named Ace.

  • Joining the team in 2025 Dr. Barber brings unparalleled experience to our practice.

    Graduating from Massey University in New Zealand she has been practicing small animal medicine in the 4-States area for 10 years. She has a love for all creatures having livestock, 2 dogs, 2 cats and even a tortoise.

    While their animals keep them busy, she and her husband still find time to enjoy the outdoors. When not working you can find them gardening, fishing, hiking or traveling to new places.

  • Growing up on a small farm in Girard KS where her family raised sheep, Dr. Katie went to St. Mary's Colgan in Pittsburg from kindergarten through high-school. Growing up she was active in 4-H and swam competitively.

    Dr. Katie went to Allen County Community College on a meat judging scholarship. After graduation she attended Kansas State University where she was also on the meat judging team and earned her bachelor's degree.

    She attended Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

    She brings 13 years of experience previously working as a mixed animal veterinarian at Girard Animal Hospital.

    Some of her hobbies include showing and raising AQHA horses and lambs. She currently has 7 horses and 2 mini schnauzers.

Our Staff

  • Currently residing in her hometown of Diamond, MO, Michelle brings over 25 years of experience in mixed and small animal practice as a registered veterinary technician. Her family is proud to have three generations showing horses and are active in our local Quarter Horse Association. She and her husband, Craig, spend their free time with family, camping, fishing and gardening.

  • With over 2 and a half years of experience in veterinary medicine Payton brings compassion and experience to the team. While she holds a love for surgery (nearly as much as she loves dachshunds) her pride in providing excellent care for every pet is shown through every of interaction with pets and owners.

  • Growing up in Goodman, MO on a dairy farm Derek takes pride in the care of every animal he encounters. With management experience caring for livestock and a passion for all things outdoors, his attention to detail and perceptiveness make him a valuable asset to our team.

  • Originally from Amarillo, Texas Lindsay now enjoys life in Southwest Missouri with her husband and teenager. As a retired army medic with 14 years of service in the Army National Guard and Reserves, she developed a strong foundation in care, attention to detail and dedication for helping others.

    Her compassion, calm nature and presence with every client makes her an invaluable part of our team.

    She shares her home with two beloved dogs- a golden retriever and a Mastidor- who keep life fun and active.

    Outside of work she enjoys traveling, camping, kayaking, cycling and photography, always finding a way to appreciate adventure and the everyday moments.

  • A graduate from Crowder College’s Veterinary Technician program Myla is no stranger to veterinary medicine. With three dogs, a cat and two geckos she is an animal lover through and through.

    In her spare time she and her fiancé can be found hunting, fishing and caring for their many plants.

  • Having always been someone who follows their passion and practicality in both life and a career, Tanya let her heart lead her to grooming after years working as an accounts receivable/payable manager.

    With training from grooming school already under her belt, she stepped fully into her passion and has been grooming for over 15 years now.

    No matter the pet and no matter the grooming request Tanya pours love, skill and dedication into EVERY animal she sees.

    Outside of work she is the most at home outdoors. She spends her time wake surfing, trail riding her mules and driving horses and staying active and connected to the lifestyles she loves.

    Her passion for hard, hands-on work makes her an immense joy to have as a member of the Smith Pet Care team!

  • With over 7 years of experience in veterinary medicine Katie brings knowledge and understanding to our team and to our clients. With two dogs and a cat of her own, she understand the connection and importance of the human-animal bond.

  • Jazmin has been a part of veterinary medicine since 2021. Relocated to Southwest Missouri from Los Angeles, her care, attention to detail and creativity shines through every day and with every pet. Her talents extend beyond serving your pets with outstanding care, into a side business where she creates handmade and unique polymer earrings.

  • Residing in Seneca and a graduate of the Crowder Veterinary Technician Program, Jami wears many hats in her life. From having 4 kids to being married for 19 years she somehow finds time to help manage their farm raising show hogs, horses, cattle and goats. When not working she can be found camping out at the lake with her husband or following her kids to stock shows.

  • Dr. Anna grew up in Linn on her family’s cow/calf operation. While home is where she first developed a lifelong passion for animals and agriculture, she participated in 4H and FFA, competitive archery, and spent years riding horses and caring for livestock including dairy goats.

    She earned her Animal Science degree from Missouri State University where she also competed on the equestrian and ranch riding teams, before completing her DVM at the University of Missouri.

    While in veterinary school, she also competed on the SAVMA palpation team and was married.

    When she isn’t at the clinic she enjoys baking sourdough, riding her horse Leo and spending time with her dog Remi.
